1. Introduction
This document is intended for use by all contractors to Suir Shipping Ltd. facilities.
All Contractors are required to read this document and sign the document acknowledgement form, which acknowledges receipt and understanding of the material contained within.
This booklet sets out the main criteria with regard to Environmental, Health & Safety procedures in force within the Suir Shipping Ltd. facilities.
The scope of this booklet is such that it contains only the main elements of safety. It cannot cover all details and rules. If, in the course of your work you find yourself in need of more information please make a request to the relevant Supervisor on site.
All contractors are required to conduct their work in a safe manner and comply with Irish Legislation.
In particular : Safety Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005
Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act (General Application ) Regulations.
Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act (Construction ) Regulations 2013.
All other relevant acts , regulations and codes of practice.
2. Facility Access Requirements:
All Contractors and its personnel must have completed the Port Company & Suir Shipping Ltd. induction before entry and familiarize themselves with all Safety guidelines contained in the induction.
All contractors must submit the following documents by email or upload to Suir Shipping Ltd. website before any commencement of work:
· Safety Statement
· Insurance ( including schedule of any exemptions )
· Risk Assessments
· Training Records / Qualifications
· Machine / Tool Certificates
· All Contractors must park in car park at main office and report to office to sign in.
3. Site Specific Health and Safety Requirements
a. All Contractors entering the site are required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The basic requirement for PPE is as follows:
· High visibility vest or jacket
· Hard hat
· Gloves (as required)
· Eye protection (as required)
· Steel toe cap boots
· Any other PPE as required in the course of your work.
b. There is no smoking permitted on-site.
c. Mobile phone use while driving is prohibited on this site.
d. Report all accidents & environmental incidents/damages to the Operations Supervisor immediately.
e. All persons entering this site do so at their own risk. Suir Shipping Ltd. shall not be responsible for any personal injuries or loss or damage to vehicles, accessories or contents howsoever caused.
4. Site Safety Rules
In addition to all site safety rules which are in our induction . The following must be adhered to :
a. Only drive on the designated route and park work vehicle in agreed designated area with Supervisor
b. No parking on foot paths or blocking pedestrian routes
c. Only walk on pedestrian routes
d. Only trained drivers to operate machines.
e. Contractors to ensure that their personnel are qualified and competent to do the task.
f. Contractors tools and equipment to certified and in good working order.
g. Risk Assessment & Method Statement to be completed before commencement of work.
h. All work zones must be set up before commencement of works.
i. Ensure all lock out / hot work / confined space & working @ height permits and procedures are followed before commencement of works.
j. No climbing or operating at heights without harnesses.
k. No littering . Keep work area clean at all times.
l. Any change in personnel performing the task to be reported to the Supervisor.
m. Do not use employers machinery or equipment without permission from supervisor.
n. Do not take chances or short cuts.
